Most large grocery chains, home improvement stores, and retailers like Wal-Mart and Target provide collection bins, usually by the main entrance, for clean and dry soft plastics such as Grocery/carryout bags.

 

Reusable bags have a 3-4 year lifespan and so are often seen as the ecological option. Reusable plastic bags do not have a simple end-of-life disposal route. Many are made of mixed plastics, so they cannot be easily recycled or are so highly coloured the only reuse is black bin bags which are energy-intensive to convert.
